I’ll be attending the European Financial Management association annual meeting (EFMA 2018) at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy.
I will be presenting my paper “Does corporate efficiency matter? Evidence from acquisitions of divesting targets”. My paper uncovers a negative effect of asset divestitures on takeover premiums, suggesting that target efficiency drives the interest of bidders. I, however, document no evidence supporting the hypothesis of target acquisitiveness. Specifically, asset divestitures reduce target acquisitiveness, but do not increase acquirer returns and takeover synergies.
You can view the updated manuscript here and presentation slides here.
Also, I will discuss the paper “Do acquisitions affect R&R intensities” written by Bruce Seifert and Halit Gonenc. This is an interesting paper using a unique subset data and DID estimation to identify the effect of acquisitions on the R&D intensity of acquiring firms.
